Columbus Cardinal Volleyball

The Junior High Volleyball Teams played Smithville on Monday, September 18.  Both 7th Grade A Team and B Team won in straight sets 2-0.  8th Grade A Team lost 1-2 and 8th Grade Be Team lost 0-2.  Their next game is Monday, September 25 against Caldwell.  Saturday, September 30 they have a tournament in Brenham.

The Lady Cards had their first District game of the season on Tuesday, September 19 against Bellville in Bellville.  Columbus came up short losing 1-2 in Freshman Game, 0-2 in JV Game and 0-3 In Varsity Game.  The Lady Cards had a great bounce back game against Stafford on Friday, September 22 in Columbus.  Columbus Defeated the Lady Spartans 2-0 in Freshman Game, 2-0 In JV Game and 3-0 in Varsity Game.  With the win it gets the Varsity back to .500 in District play and 18-9 on the season.  The Lady Cards have two away District games this upcoming week.  They play @ Needville on Tuesday, September 26 and @ Sealy on Friday, September 29.  CLICK HERE TO SEE FULL SCHEDULE

Columbus Cardinal Football

The 7th Grade Football Team got their first win of the year beating Hallettsville 14-8. The Cardinals converted a 4th down pass from Pitchford to Morris down to the 2 yard line with 43 seconds to go in the game. Next play Woods scores on a 2 yd TD run to put the Cards on top. Hurd ends the game wit the sack. Great Game.  Next game is against Cuero in Columbus @ 5.

The 8th Grade Football Team got down quick in the game, but made a valiant effort in the second half coming up a little short, losing 28-20.  Next game is Thursday, September 28 against Cuero in Columbus.  7th Grade starting @ followed by 8th Grade.

Hallettsville did not have a Freshman Team.  The Cardinals combined their Freshman and JV Teams to take on the Brahmas Thursday, September 21.  The Cardinals lost 48-24.  The Columbus Cardinals JV Team is 0-2 on the year and the Freshman are 1-0.  Next game is Thursday, September 28 against Cuero in Cuero.  Freshman play @ 5 followed by the JV.

The Cardinals Varsity Football Team played the Hallettsville Brahmas on Friday, September 22 in Columbus.  The Brahmas went up quick and the Cardinals couln’t catch up.  Cardinals lose 49-7.  Next game is Friday, September 29 against Cuero in Columbus @ 7:30

Cross Country

The Columbus High School Cross Country Team had a meet @ Rice on Thursday, September 21.  Savannah Pilsner placed 15th and Amber Noles 16th.  Their next meet will be in Weimar Saturday, September 30.

St. Anthony

The St. Anthony A Volleyball team had a tournament @ Faith Academy in Belliville.  The Saints went 3-2.  The Saints next game will be Monday, September 25 against Sacred Heart in Hallettsville.

The Saints Football team did not have a game this week.  Their next game will be against Nazareth in Victoria (Jet Field) @ 5:30.

Youth Football

Columbus Youth Football and Cheerleading

Rookies, JV and Varsity Teams played La Grange in La Grange on Saturday, September 23.

Rookies lost 20-0, JV Won 14-13 and Varsity Lost 27-21.

Their Next games will be against Giddings in Giddings on Saturday, September 30.

Columbus Youth Football Federation

Rookies, JV and Varsity Teams played Wharton in Columbus on Saturday, September 30.

Rookies Won 6-0, JV Lost 31-0 and Varsity Won 14-0.

Their Next Games will be against Sealy in Sealy on Saturday, September 30.

Select Leagues

The local 14U Force softball team played in a tournament on Sunday, September 24 in Columbus.  The Force came away with a perfect 3-0 record on the day.
