Columbus vs. Needville Tiebreaker
The Lady Cards are coming into the District Tiebreaker match against Needville on a 7 match winning streak. The winner of this match would go into the Playoffs as the number one seed.
Columbus got out to a quick lead and kept it. The Lady Cards were in total sync and looked unbeatable. They won the first set 25-17. The second set started the same way the first did, with a big lead. The Lady Blue Jays fought back, but the Lady Cards pulled out a win 25-23. Up 2 sets to 0 it looked like the Lady Cards were going to cruise into the Playoffs as the number one seed. In the third set Columbus and Needville went back and forth. Unfortunately the Lady Blue Jays came out on top 21-25. The fourth set was the same as the third. Back and forth the teams fourth in another tight set. Again the Lady Jays came out on top 25-22. In the fifth and final set the Lady Cards looked a little tired and you could see the huge momentum swing that Needville had. Needville came out on top 15-8 and won the match.
The Lady Cards played their hearts out. Being up 2-0 and only needing to win 1 out of the next 3 and not getting it done can be disappointing to some teams. I believe under the leadership of Johns and what this team has been through together, they will use this as a learning lesson.
The Lady Cards play Brazosport @ Tidehaven High School on Tuesday, November 1 @ 6:00 pm.
