Columbus vs. Cuero
The Columbus Cardinals were coming off a close lose against the Hallettsville Brahmas. For the second week in a row the Cardinals were facing a top 10 state ranked football team in the Cuero Gobblers.
The Cardinals came out playing tough and holding Cuero to only 7 points in the first quarter. Columbus answered with a 71 yard touchdown pass from Pfluaghpt to Perrino to tie the game up at 7 a piece. Unfortunately that was the only time the Cardinals would score in the game. The Gobblers went into half time with 20-7 lead and extended that to 41-7.
Columbus had a tough night running the ball and had 3 turnovers (3 Interceptions). It is hard to beat a top 10 team when you lose the turnover battle. The Cardinals look to regain momentum when they face the Huffman Falcons in Huffman on Friday, September 30, 2016.
